Your link to the professional development in-service on August 21 is at the bottom of the page. This day is a district mandated professional development for all teachers. You will be participating in two general sessions: 1 led by Dr. David Teachout and the other led by Dr. Don Hodges. We also have several break-out sessions on various topics related to your specific content area and led by a combination of GCS and UNCG faculties. The location of the In-Service will be held at UNCG School of Music. The day will be as follows:
8:00ish-8:50: Refreshements/Breakfast (provided by Moore Music) and sign-in
9:00-9:50: General Session 1 – Dr. Teachout
10:00-10:50: Break-out sessions 1
11:00-11:50: Break-out sessions 2
12:00-1:00: Lunch (on your own)
1:00-1:50: Break-out sessions 3
2:00-3:00: General Session 2 – Dr. Hodges

Session topics have been completed. A list of those and session leaders will be sent to you as soon as we can. We will be providing a program for you as soon as it is completed. Moore Music has graciously offered to pay for all the printing of all materials. This in-service is provided through a partnership between GCS, UNCG, and Moore Music. Dr. Jennifer Stewart-Walter has been so gracious in working with us to provide this service to you.
Please invite your principals. The first general session followed by break-out sessions 1 and 2 will also include sessions for principals on how to evaluate music teachers as well as the importance of music in our schools. This is a tremendous time for us to connect with your principals. I have spoken with Alan Parker (principal, SWHS) and Dr. Susie Hines (AP, Lincoln) and am arranging for them to speak at these sessions.
